Compassion is at the heart of medicinal cannabis, and it's been missing since voters approved Prop 64 in California. Thankfully, the Dennis Peron and Brownie Mary Act, known as SB34, brings compassion back to medicinal cannabis. California companies may provide free cannabis or cannabis products to medicinal cannabis patients if they meet specific program requirements. DSY attended an SB34 event at the American Legion Post 397 in Monterey Park, California to see compassion in action.

Many thanks to Los Angeles NORML and the Veterans Cannabis Coalition for inviting us to tell this story. Pineapple Express Delivery made this event possible by providing donations from several cannabis companies.

Special thanks for our music, Melancholic Interpretation in G# by Connum and Expressions of the Mind by ShadyDave.

Answering the call to serve in the United States Armed Forces and the Coast Guard deserves recognition by all Americans. During an impromptu conversation over coffee at a local cafe, an army officer completely changed DSY Host Philip Rebentisch’s perspective. The Lt. Colonel said, “Being thanked is nice, but we all chose to wear the uniform. There are so many Veterans living with chronic pain and PTSD, it’s better to ask, how are you doing?”. Although Veterans may have left active service, too many suffer consequences from honorably serving their country. The tragedy is compounded in that Veterans Administration policy does not provide Veterans access to medical cannabis that may help those suffering from chronic pain, PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), or other conditions.

Everyone at DSY feels it's essential to support our nation's Veterans and tell their stories. We support the Veterans Cannabis Coalition and their efforts to change US policy about Veterans' access to medicinal cannabis.

Cannabis medicine should not be so ridiculously expensive that people can't afford it. Dear Cannabis is a non-profit company that helps patients access free, legal, and safe cannabis medicine. DSY sat down with Co-Founder and CEO, Melissa Burgstahler, to learn about their incredible efforts to make cannabis medicine available to patients in California who need help. Many thanks to Phire Labs in Santa Ana, California for inviting us to speak with Melissa at their facility.
